Teaching Tomorrow's Leaders Today

The Wilderness Education Association was founded in in 1977, and exists today to equip both outdoor leaders and the general public with the judgment and decision-making skills needed to safely enjoy wilderness areas.

Through the WEA, Outdoor leaders and educators can register in the International Registry of Outdoor Educators and Leaders, while outdoor programs can become accredited through the autonomous Commission on Outdoor Education and Leadership.

Perhaps most importantly, the WEA brings together outdoor educators and leaders from around the world at its annual gathering. This year, the 2014 International Conference on Outdoor Leadership is taking place at the University of Utah Guest House in Salt Lake City, UT from February 2-4. We can't wait to see many familiar and new faces and are excited for the great lineup of speakers we have.
