1st Annual Outdoor Leadership Program Symposium [Monday, February 21, 9am-12pm]
Call for proposals is closed.

Submissions to the 1st annual Outdoor Leadership Practitioner Symposium (OLPS) are now being accepted.  The OLPS is intended to provide a forum for field and administrative practitioners to share best practices related to developing and maintaining excellent outdoor leadership training programs.  The goal of this symposium is to provide an series of short presentations that highlight specific components of a program that other administrators and field practitioners might be able to incorporate into their programs at home.  The OLPS provides an opportunity for non-competency based presentations to be shared among peer professionals outside of the workshop track sessions.

Interested but unsure of what to present?  Think about your program and the most successful, unique, or interesting components.  Have you ever shared that concept with others and had them say "wow, that is really cool!"  or  "I wonder how my program could incorporate something like that"?  If so, this is the perfect forum for you to share with your peers and help push each other to build better programs.  Still not sure what to submit for the symposium?  Here are a few ideas to get your creative juices flowing:
  • Integrating technology into training (video, gps, etc)
  • Creating staff culture that works
  • Integrating academics with programming - inter-departmental successes
  • Managing ADA requirements within your program
  • International Registry of Outdoor Leaders - from the field to the artifact, 10.0 series assessment plan
