The hold on accepting new Affiliate Applications has been extended to January 1, 2010.
All new Affiliate Applications will be submitted and reviewed under the WEA Accreditation Self Study that is currently being developed. The Standards Committee, Curriculum Committee and the Board of Trustees have been diligently working over the last 2 years to develop this document.
What can I do in the mean time to prepare my organization's Self Study?
For organizations interested in becoming accredited at the Outdoor Leadership level and to offer Outdoor Leadership Certifications, the entire Section B 8.0-9.0 series will need to be outlined in your self study. If your organization is interested in covering 2-5 but not all Six Core Competencies then you will be eligible to become accredited at the Steward level for the curriculum competencies that your program covers. Regardless of the Accreditation level, your organization will detail where and how those curricular competencies are covered in your organizations program(s) as well as Evidence of Compliance (how competency is assessed). Curriculum pages of this website.
Section A (administration) of the Accreditation Self Study will be available shortly.

www.weainfo.org/membernews as they are developed through the committees and the Board of Trustees. Once formally passed they will be posted here.
Interested organizations should contact Ivan Bartha (
ilbartha@stcloudstate.edu), WEA Affiliate Representative to the Board of Trustees with any questions. Your organization will be placed on a list at the National Office of all organizations interested in becoming accredited by the WEA.
