Oklahoma State University has been Affiliated with WEA since the Mid 80's. That is when Mark Wagstaff came to OSU from the executive director position. At that time mark and Chris Cashel ran man WEA courses. For a brief period they were running sveral Wilderness Steward courses as training staff at Philmont Scout Rance. After Mark left OSU for Brevard College, OSU became less involved with the WEA until 2000 when Scott Jordan came to the OSU program. The WEA and it's curriculum are a large part of the current OSU program and in 2006 OSU was recognized at the National Conference on Outdoor Leadership as the Affiliate of the Year.
