Trip planning and archiving, all programs do it, but wise programs (and programmers) ask, "Can we do it better?" The answer is "Yes!" If you want your program trip planning and archiving to be more efficient, reduce risk and to improve future training for trip leaders, this is the course for you.
 
Learn the basic functions of GPS, photograph and mapping program integration and data sotrage strategies to develop customized interactive 'guidebooks'.  Use them to brief trip leaders; review known and potential hazards, as well as evacuations routes. best of all, every time you go back to taht location, you can collect fresh data to prevent your content from becoming irrelevant or outdated based on the season, development or even water levels. This dynamic course will show you how to use readily available technology to trastically improve your program trip planning anc carchiving for each and every course area your program utilizes.

Speaker Josh Walker

Josh Walker is a co-owner of Rare Earth Adventures LLC. Josh has over 10 years of experience with various mapping programs and GPS technology. Josh has spent the last three years integrating technology into the components of trip planning. Josh serves on the WEA Curriculum
Committee and has been an active WEA instructor for the past four years.
 
Rare Earth Adventures (REA) LLC. has been a WEA affiliate since 2006 and continues to provide several committees their expertise in instructional and program design. REA provides quality outdoor experiences resulting in the attianment of high-performance skills, enhanced leadership and team development.
 
During their first year of affiliation, REA provided two conference presentations that covered a wide variety of tools that can enhance the training of young outdoor professionals. Since then, REA has progressed into the development of several patented field collections systems that utilize modern tools and mapping technologies. These systems allow guides, trip leaders, or individuals the ability to archive their activities in a manner that allows them to integrate all data into several mapping programs. 
 
The instructors presenting this workshop have over 20 years of comined experience in field collection and archiving trips using modern technology.
