Field Staff

Job Description
Outward Bound is hiring field staff.
We have over 150 opportunities for new field staff this year!
Instructors: We are interested in diverse individuals with varied experiences, and have a particular need for sailors, whitewater rafters, mountaineers, sea kayakers and canoeists. We are also always looking for people with experience and a passion for working with youth-at-risk. Instructor applicants should have a significant base of experience leading one week or longer wilderness trips for an organization with a mission similar to Outward Bound.
Logistics Coordinators: The logistics staff provides an infrastructure that ensures instructors and students have the equipment and food needed for daily course functions. A successful Logistics Coordinator collaborates well with course staff to make sure the students know how to maintain and care for gear they are given. Additionally they schedule vehicles for each course; drive to and from all course events with additional gear and food. It is critical that Logistics Coordinators are organized, collaborative, willing to work hard, and dedicated to delivering the Outward Bound mission.
Interns: The intern program is designed to provide a greater understanding of Outward Bound philosophy and methods; they are paid a living stipend. We provide opportunities for interns to develop technical, group facilitation, teaching and organizational skills over the course of a summer. Internships vary in length and design depending on individual assessment and program needs. Some interns are promoted to an Instructor position the first summer while others may need to focus more time on an identified area of development.
Outward Bound the nations leader in wilderness-based hands-on education hires staff that are dedicated, skilled individuals who choose service, education and adventure as their career. Their leadership and talent instructing through the Core Values of Outward Bound brings life long transference to the student experience. Staff work for Outward Bound because of the students’ lives they impact, the friendships they build, opportunities for development and the compassion that our community values.
