Job Description

C5 Youth Foundation (formally Camp Coca Cola) is seeking adults with a balance of backcountry/outdoor experience and facilitation skills to lead summer adventure trips.

C5 Youth Foundation is a leadership development program for high-performing teens from families with limited resources. During the third summer of a 5-year progression, HS sophomores travel to Montana and Wyoming for 13-days designed to energize a successful journey to the future. Surrounded by towering peaks, sweeping valleys, and an artist’s palette of color, our youth practice real leadership in real situations.

We use remote wilderness environments and activities like rafting and rappelling to teach youth there are no shortcuts to the summit -- Success depends on taking one step at a time all the way to the top. Naturally-occurring challenges teach lessons about strength, character, and commitment. We prepare youth with to apply these lessons to challenges like school, job, and family.

Required Experience:

  

·       Experience with youth

·       Background leading or participating in similar trips

·       Able to visually & audibly supervise youth in a backcountry environment

·       Drug-free

·       Available for training in Wyoming, May 19 –June 9.

Final day of employment: Aug 23 (Final date is somewhat negotiable)

Employment Salary From:   3000 to 4000

This Job Requires the Following Skills:

 

§         Prep &lead trips with 12 youth and 2 adults
 
§         Guide groups along a 28-mile, 6-day backpacking route
 

§         Accompany groups to Mann Gulch, Yellowstone, on rafting trips, etc.

§         Implement a day-by-day curriculum

§         Assess readiness to backpack in the mountains
 

§         Provide logistical support such as transportation, packing food, and issuing gear

§         Coach youth to lead and make sound decisions

·       Wilderness First Responder (or certified before start (training assistance available)

·       Able to carry a 50-pound backpack over uneven terrain up to 8 miles a day for 6 days

·       Valid driver license & good DMV record

High School
